چکیده

Objective: To investigate the functions of Treg cells and immune cells of the cancer tissues, para-cancerous tissues and normal tissues. Method: Tumor tissues, para-carcinoma tissue and normal tissues from 265 gastric patients were collected, and the expression of Treg cells, CD3, CD4, CD8, NK cell and DC cells (dendritic cells) were evaluated. Through statistical methods of t test, chi-square test, Cox univariate survival analysis and Multivariate survival analysis, we studied the correlation between varieties of immune cells with clinical prognosis. Result: (1) The average number Foxp3+ Treg cell and CD3, CD4, CD8, NK cell, DCs in tumor tissues and para-carcinoma tissues was higher than that of normal tissues (P<0.05), but there was no difference in the number of immune cells between tumor tissues and para-carcinoma tissues (P>0.05). (2) The regional lymph node metastasis was significantly different between high and low infiltration groups (P<0.05). (3) The recurrence, metastasis of tumor and survival condition between high and low infiltration groups were not statistically significant (P>0.05). (4) Cox univariate survival analysis and multivariate survival analysis indicated the content and infiltrating of Foxp3+ Treg cells is an independent factor for the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer. Conclusion: The number of immune cells in tumor tissue and para-carcinoma tissues were significantly more than those in normal tissues. Foxp3+ Treg cell infiltration in tumor tissue may indicate the survival prognosis of gastric cancer patients and will benefit for cancer immunotherapy against tumors.

HER-2/neu Marker Examination using Immunohistochemical Method in Patients Suffering from Gastric Adenocarcinoma

Gastric adenocarcinoma is the second leading cause of death due to cancer in the world and in advanced stages the prognosis is poor with current therapies. Over-expression of HER-2/neu has been seen in several cancers such as gastric cancer and its expression is associated with poor prognosis. The aim of this study is to evaluate the over-expression of HER-2/neu in gastric biopsy samples of pat...

Inflammation, a Key Factor in Cancer Ambush

Inflammatory condition is the consequence of defensive mechanism of immune system against viral and bacterial infection, tissue injury, UV radiation, stress and etc. Persistently acute inflammation leads to chronic phase which is characterized by production of pro-inflammatory mediators from T cells. These molecules (e.g. IL-6, TNF-&alpha, IL-1&beta and IL-17) are mostly pleiotropic cytokines i...

Evaluation of PDL-1 Protein Expression in Tumor Tissues of Patients with Gasteric Cancer

Background and Objective: Nowadays, it has been proven that the immune system plays a major role in the occurrence or treatment of some cancers. The PDL-1 proteins are among the components of the immune system, which are expressed in different body cells, including B cells and T cells. In this regard, the present study was conducted to determine the frequency of PDL-1 protein expression and its...

Cancer Stem Cell Markers CD44, CD133 in Primary Gastric Adenocarcinoma

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are unique subpopulations that have the capacity to drive malignant progression with renewal abilities. Recently the role of some of CSCs in gastric adenocarcinoma has been studied. This study was performed in order to evaluate CD44 and CD133 expressions by immunohistochemistry in 95 primary gastric adenocarcinoma and their relation to clinical and pathological paramete...

Effect of Hesperetin on the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in gastric cancer stem cells: Short Communication

Intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) play an important role in cancer stem cell (CSC) function. Hesperetin (Hst) is a flavonoid that has been shown to affect cellular ROS level. The goal of this study was to investigate the effect of Hst on the level of ROS in gastric CSCs (GCSCs). MTT assay was used to evaluate cell survival. Cellular ROS level was measured using 2′,7′-dichlorofluoresci...
